Which Series 29 LEGO Minifigures will be hardest to find?

The latest series of LEGO Minifigures officially lands on shelves tomorrow (though is already available in some regions), so here are the characters we reckon will be hardest to find.

In most series of Collectible Minifigures there’s typically at least one or two characters that are tricky to come by, whether it’s the Wolfpack Beastmaster or the Dragonborn Paladin. For 71052 Series 29 there’s no obvious LEGO Castle army builder to draw a parallel with those particular examples – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t minifigures you might struggle to find.

Here are the characters we reckon may prove trickiest to find in 71052 Series 29. If you want to maximise your chances of finding these, make sure to download Brick Search before heading out to your local LEGO Store: the app’s minifigure scanner can identify what’s inside each blind box, works offline and can scan multiple boxes at once. You can also create a checklist to make sure you get every minifigure you’re after.

Trash Monster

At first glance, the Trash Monster doesn’t feel like the most inviting minifigure in Series 29, which is sort of the point. But there’s a lot to love here, from the rotting pumpkin head underneath the slimy headpiece to the fish skeleton and fly tile accessories, so there’s a good chance this will end up being the sleeper hit of the pack.

Monster Hunter

The Monster Hunter is among the most thematic minifigures in the entire line-up, but at the same time feels incredibly versatile: she could fit into a bunch of different builds or layouts as is, while her individual pieces will no doubt find plenty of uses elsewhere too. Come for the gunblade, stay for the unique hat-and-hair mould – assuming you can find her in the first place.

Mysterious Ronin

This ‘Mysterious Ronin’ (Lloyd, it’s Lloyd) will be an interesting test case for Series 29. Could NINJAGO sustain its own Collectible Minifigures series without the weight of a movie behind it? How hard this minifigure is to find could be the clearest indicator, and while it may not be quite as tough to come by as others here, we suspect it’ll still be among the most popular characters this time round.

BIONICLE Cosplayer

While 71052 Series 29 doesn’t officially launch until May 1, boxes have been turning up on store shelves in the US for a couple of weeks now – and early indications are that the BIONICLE Cosplayer is going to be the hardest minifigure of them all to find. Whether we’re looking at another Wolfpack Beastmaster scenario remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised if you have to hunt across multiple stores and boxes for Tahu.

Remember to download Brick Search on iOS or Android before heading out in search of your Series 29 minifigures. Brick Search Plus members get unlimited use of the minifigure scanner, full access to the app’s entire database of 10,000+ sets, 3% cashback when shopping at LEGO.com and much more.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
