Five things we spotted in LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons

LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale is coming soon but before its launch, we’ve spotted some interesting details.

With less than two weeks to go until the release of the newly-revealed 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale, there’s no need to wait to take a closer look at the model’s many secrets. By digging through official images and new information, there’s a lot to spot in the set.

From new pieces to parts that may be useful beyond LEGO D&D, here are five things we’ve spotted in 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale.

5 – It has a story

LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale is confirmed to have an exclusive tie-in D&D adventure, but you might be able to spot some hints at its story in the set. The name of the tavern and the presence of a mysterious hooded figure in official images suggest that one of the minifigures isn’t what it seems.

4 – There are some useful printed pieces

While 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale is undoubtedly aimed at those familiar with the game, a variety of printed spell scrolls could be especially useful for LEGO Castle’s Majisto or other non-D&D wizard minifigures. The many minifigure faces included in the set too in a variety of skin colours could be useful beyond the confines of 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale as well.

3 – Loot and treasure

Looking closely at pictures of 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale reveals that spare weapons, shields, armour and potions are just waiting to be looted to upgrade the adventurer minifigures in the LEGO Ideas set. Much like a real campaign – magic items and loot are an important part of 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale.

2 – There’s an interesting Easter egg

A five-headed dragon statue is featured in the tower of 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale and those familiar with the tabletop game will be able to recognise the iconic visage of Tiamat. What’s interesting with this Easter egg though is that Tiamat is a particularly evil god, adding to the story of the set since anyone praising her may be worth an insight check.

1 – It’s great for LEGO elves

LEGO elves and elf minifigure collectors rejoice, 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale is debuting two new hairstyles with pointed ears including a rare deadlock piece. Combined with the fresh element in 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, it’s a good time to be a LEGO elf.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
