Star Wars: Andor Season 2 trailer debuts at Star Wars Celebration

A brand new trailer for Star Wars: Andor Season 2 has debuted at Star Wars Celebration, as the cast and crew confirm that the show is on track to return in 2024.

Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase at Star Wars Celebration 2023 opened with the folks behind Star Wars: Andor taking to the stage, discussing their favourite moments from Season 1. (Yes, Andy Serkis has seen the memes of Kino with armbands.) Show creator Tony Gilroy then confirmed that filming on Season 2 is ‘about halfway’ through, and expected to continue through August 2023.

The showrunners are aiming for a premiere date of roughly August 2024, following a year in post-production. The second season will take things right up to the beginning of Rogue One, covering several years across multi-episode arcs. And those lucky enough to be on the show floor at Star Wars Celebration were able to see a first glimpse of Season 2 in an exclusive trailer.

There’s no word yet on whether that trailer will find its way online, but initial reactions are looking positive. Empire magazine describes it as ‘huge’, while Star Wars Explained says it feels ‘just as intense as Season 1’.

The first season of Star Wars: Andor – a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – debuted on Disney+ last year to critical acclaim. Diego Luna returned to the title role, while the show’s extended cast includes Andy Serkis, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly and Adria Arjona.

We’ve had just the one LEGO Star Wars set from the show so far, 75338 Ambush on Ferrix, but more could well follow for Season 2 in 2024.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
