Star Wars Celebration confirms three new movies on the way

The Lucasfilm Showcase at Star Wars Celebration rounded off with the confirmation that three new Star Wars movies are on the way.

While rumours had been circulating about various directors and producers being attached to three different titles, we now have confirmation (via Bespin Bulletin) that three movies are definitely on the way.

One will be directed by James Mangold (who worked on Dial of Destiny and Logan, among many others) and will tell the story of the first Jedi. Set 25,000 years before the current Star Wars timeline, it’s compared to a biblical story that sets the foundations for what we know today.

As previously rumoured, Dave Filoni will also direct a film, this one based on the MandoVerse. Together with Jon Favreau as producer, it will be the crossover event that the duo have been teasing.

Last but not least, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s film will be set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and will see Daisy Ridley’s Rey return to rebuild a new Jedi order through her own academy. Daisy Ridley joined the staff with a huge smile as the news broke.

There was no confirmed word on when we can expect to see these films, but you can rest assured we’ll let you know as soon as we spot anything.
