Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake’s development may have stopped

With a minifigure rumoured to be on the way, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake may not currently be in development.

Development on the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake may have stopped entirely after multiple rumours of troubles behind the scenes, reports Insider Gaming. This follows a rumour that a LEGO minifigure of Darth Malak from the game would be coming in 2024 for the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars.

“I just want to clear it up, this game is not being worked on right now,” said  Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb on the Game Mess Mornings show “Just full stop. This game is not being worked on in any way, at any studio.”

Provided Grubb’s statement is accurate, that’s not a great sign for the remake, which has had its trailer removed from parts of the internet (but this move was later explained) and reports that the game has changed developer and been delayed indefinitely.

For those holding out hope for the remake, this is still only a rumour at the time of writing and it should be taken with caution, despite Grubb’s track record. As for the rumoured Darth Malak minifigure, the original game still exists and any such minifigure could be explained as a callback to the older title, instead of tying into an upcoming title. It is also only a rumour at this time and has not been officially confirmed.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
