Ubisoft’s open-world Star Wars Outlaws officially revealed

Another new Star Wars game has been revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, nearly fully unveiling Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws.

Star Wars Outlaws helped to kick off the show with its first trailer, detailing exactly who we’ll be playing and what part of the timeline we’ll be exploring.

While rumours of a customisable character surfaced earlier this year, it appears that the core playable character is Kay Vess, who comes with a furry axolotl-like creature.

The description for the trailer confirms that this title is an open-world Star Wars game and there are plenty of ships for the LEGO Group to potentially draw inspiration from. Kay’s ship seems to have a design that could lend itself well to LEGO bricks.

Multiple other characters, including a Commando Droid, appear in the trailer for Star Wars Outlaws, which is due in 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, tomorrow’s Ubisoft Forward at 10 a.m. PDT will reveal gameplay, so there’s not long to wait for more information.

Reports from journalist Stephen Totilo suggest that the game will be set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and that there may be heists, all of which line up with the trailer.

The LEGO Group has covered Star Wars games in the LEGO Star Wars theme before, but as seen with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, it can take time. For now, nothing has been confirmed or even teased for any kind of LEGO coverage for Star Wars Outlaws.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
