Stream Netflix’s LEGO House documentary for free

Netflix’s 2018 documentary on the construction of the LEGO House in Billund is now available to stream for free on YouTube.

The 47-minute Home of the Brick takes us through the journey of the LEGO House, from its conception and design to the construction and 2017’s grand opening. The project’s key members – including third-generation LEGO Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen and architect Bjarke Ingels – are all involved and interviewed, offering insights into how they brought Kjeld’s vision to life.

Until now, LEGO House: Home of the Brick had only been available to paying Netflix subscribers (or anyone with access to the Netflix account of a friend, family member, or ex who’s forgotten to change their password, as is usually the case). However, the LEGO House has now uploaded the full documentary to its YouTube channel, which means anyone can watch it free of charge.

While the pandemic temporarily put pause to visitors to Billund’s premier LEGO attraction, the LEGO House has now once again opened its doors. Today also sees its first post-COVID LEGO House Fan Day, in conjunction with Skærbæk Fan Weekend, which will involve new builds unveiled in the Masterpiece Gallery and talks from key LEGO creatives and designers.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
