Studio behind LEGO Star Wars games plans its next IP-based adventure

Co-creator of TT Games, the studio behind the LEGO Star Wars video games, Tim Stone hints at ‘new adventure’ with ‘a well-loved and globally-renowned IP’.

Tim Stone celebrated 20 years of LEGO Star Wars in a post to LinkedIn, writing: “I would like to mark this moment by thanking every single person who has been involved in the creation, development, publishing, marketing & distribution of the LEGO games series over the years.”

He also gave ‘a special call out to everyone who played these games’, thanking the players for supporting the games over the years. While the post focused on the past, Stone also gave a tease for something coming soon, concluding the post with: “We are now looking forward to our next adventure. More news soon.”

Of course, that’s not a lot to go on, but this comes just two days after Stone also posted on LinkedIn about a new studio, Second Star Games. He wrote: “We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a new studio based in Manchester with a mission to become a world-leading developer and publisher of magical gaming experiences for young gamers and their families.

“Our first game will bring to life a well-loved and globally-renowned IP. We can’t wait to share more details about this partnership, and the studio itself, in the coming weeks.”

That’s not confirmation of any connection to LEGO, although more LEGO games would always be welcome. However, the ‘well-loved and globally-renowned IP’ that appeals to young gamers could easily be the LEGO Group, especially with Stone’s history with LEGO-based games. We’re just reading between the lines and this is far from confirmation, it’s worth noting – but we can dream.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
