Take a tour of the world’s first LEGO Monkie Kid land
A tour of the new LEGO Monkie Kid land at LEGOLAND Shanghai reveals that the theme isn’t just good for impressive sets and an animated series.
LEGOLAND Shanghai is now officially open, with guests flooding into the park as part of the grand opening week. This includes some news stations, including one which has shared a quick, but useful tour of the most notable areas of the new park for longtime LEGO enthusiasts.
New China TV was able to visit the park shortly after opening, sharing one of the first tours of the Miniland and Monkie Kid areas on YouTube, both of which are the most interesting of the park’s new areas. For those not in the region, it’s a great way to see what makes LEGOLAND Shanghai different to any other LEGOLAND resort worldwide.
The digital walls of the Miniland area are especially noticeable in the video tour, featuring hot air balloons and stars moving across the walls and bringing the huge space to life in ways that other LEGOLAND’s outdoor Miniland areas can’t without such technology
The most interesting and exciting part of the new resort for international fans is the park’s Monkie Kid area based on the original LEGO theme, which recently celebrated its fifth anniversary. It’s the first of its kind for a LEGOLAND resort, and considering the inspiration for the theme, a Monkie Kid land in the first LEGOLAND resort in China makes sense. It’s still surprising to see such a highly themed area when the theme has only two new sets in 2025.
While the land’s main ride, the design of which is based on both the retired 80024 The Legendary Flower Fruit Mountain and 80012 Monkey King Warrior Mech, isn’t open yet, the video still showcases the appearance of the facade and ride vehicles, as well as the giant models featured throughout the surrounding areas.
Several other set-inspired attractions and areas can be spotted as the tour continues through the extensive land, which is comparable to the NINJAGO lands across the worldwide LEGOLAND resorts, one of which just received a second, exclusive ride.
With Monkie Kid’s increased popularity in China, don’t expect this land to be replicated outside of the region soon, but it still demonstrates how immersive LEGOLAND areas can be with the right budget. A range of LEGO Monkie Kid sets are available now, two of which were released this year.
