The LEGO Ideas review stage includes more prizes than you thought

The LEGO Ideas review stages usually only see one or two projects proceed into production but it turns out the builders of projects not chosen still receive a hefty prize.

A LEGO Ideas 10k club member and LEGO YouTuber has revealed what happens if your project isn’t chosen for the LEGO Ideas review as it turns out the story doesn’t quite end there.

Ashnflash has taken to YouTube to reveal the consolation prize that is given to every LEGO Ideas user whose project isn’t chosen by the judges, but was still part of a LEGO Ideas review stage.

This small detail wasn’t exactly a secret with the guidelines page on LEGO Ideas stating that users will receive up to three LEGO products totalling $500, but is nonetheless something that most of you may not have been aware of.

As explained in the video, LEGO Ideas users eligible for the consolation prize are asked to choose a few options for sets that will equal the needed amount with the final products being a surprise to them, meaning there is an element of choice to an extent but no guarantees as to what you will receive. For example, Ashnflash received 10261 Roller Coaster when 71044 Disney Train and Station was one of his other chosen options.

Either way, it seems that the LEGO Group are going to be giving away a lot of these prizes soon as the most recent round of the LEGO Ideas review includes a massive 39 projects, making it the biggest yet with two months still to go.
