The many LEGO plants of 10315 Tranquil Garden
The new LEGO Icons Tranquil Garden has a lot of interesting LEGO plants, including some we’ve seen before.
The recently-revealed 10315 Tranquil Garden may not be an official part of the LEGO Group’s botanical line, but it still has its fair share of brick-built LEGO plants. There are flowers, trees, and bamboo – some of which actually re-use builds from other LEGO sets. Let’s take a look at all the plant life you can look forward to building in this latest (extremely zen) set.
Lotus Flowers

Using a simple build of only two pieces, there are a few lotus flowers scattered throughout the water of the Tranquil Garden. Lotus flowers have been built in LEGO form before, but never with this exact two-piece combo, especially since the piece inside the purple half-shells is on the newer side. You can pick up 40647 Lotus Flowers as a companion to this set if you’re really focused on these flowers!
Cherry Blossom Trees

This set includes two (and a half) eye-catching cherry blossom trees, with their unique pink-and-white colour scheme. While the colours are new for this tree, the build is actually not. The LEGO Ideas set 21338 A-Frame Cabin introduced this style of tree build, which was used for more fall-coloured trees originally. This tree build looks pretty great, so there’s no need to change what’s already working.
Bamboo

The small group of three stalks of bamboo use a build that’s become quite common for this plant. 80107 Spring Lantern Festival prominently featured a large group of bamboo built in the same way, and 80044 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout uses bamboo stalks as a secret door. Although it is technically a re-use, it is hard to imagine how else to convincingly build this iconic plant.
Other Trees

The rest of the plants in the model consist of a few dark green trees, with one being much larger than the rest. The smaller trees are built using a re-coloured drill piece, which is a surprisingly good-looking use of the part. The other, larger tree uses the new fern pieces introduced in 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell. It’s nice to see this exciting new piece being used in interesting ways, like they’re placed upside-down here to create the leaves of a tree.
Overall, 10315 Tranquil Garden uses a mix of new and re-used plant builds to flesh out the model and make it a pleasing addition to anyone’s LEGO botanical collection. The repeated plant builds may come off as a shortcut, but here they feel appropriate since the final look is so clean.
