The latest trailer for MCU team-up movie The Marvels shows off the film’s newly-revealed tie-in LEGO model… and one more summer 2023 superhero set.
Unveiled ahead of San Deigo Comic-Con earlier this week, 76232 The Hoopty is the sole tie-in product for The Marvels, which acts as a direct sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel – and sees Monica Rambeau (Photon) and Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) team up with Carol Danvers to take down Kree General-turned-Emperor (at least in the comics) Dar-Benn.
The film’s newest trailer shows off Zawe Ashton’s Dar-Benn, the big bad who’s mysteriously missing from 76232 The Hoopty. The very-grey vehicle at least gets plenty of screen time in the trailer, seen at the beginning of the clip floating through space with Captain Marvel on board. It’s glimpsed in the thick of the action again later on, suggesting it’s going to serve a pretty major role in the movie.
That 420-piece set isn’t the only one with ties to The Marvels, though. The full trailer also includes a lingering shot of the MCU’s new Statue of Liberty, which was still under construction during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home – but is seemingly complete by The Marvels. The statue’s head will hit LEGO Store shelves on August 1 in 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle, complete with scaffolding to stage that movie’s climactic showdown.
Strip away the scaffolding, though, and you’ve got the perfect starting point for… well, whatever action takes place around the statue in The Marvels. It could just be an establishing shot intended to convey the progression of time since Spidey – or the renewed landmark could be about to take another bruising. Either way, there’s one more proto-tie-in set for The Marvels. And it’s a bit better value than 76232 The Hoopty, too.
The Marvels arrives in cinemas on November 10, while 76232 The Hoopty launches on October 1 for £84.99 / $89.99 / €94.99. The 420-piece set includes Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Photon minifigures, alongside Goose the Flerken and two kittens. 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle arrives August 1 for £94.99 / $109.99 / €104.99, and includes 900 pieces and nine minifigures.
