The publisher behind LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga may be in trouble

The fate of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga may be thrown off balance by a possible merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery.

Warner Bros. Games, the publisher responsible for most of the LEGO Games, and TT Games’ upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga may be left to an unknown fate. This comes in the midst of parent company AT&T selling off much of their assets to Discovery so that they can create a new streaming giant. As a result of the sale, some of the shifted assets may include those from the video games department of Warner Bros.

The exact details of the merger are unknown but reports from sources such as Julia Alexander of IGN suggest that the sale will include some of Warner Bros. Interactive and Warner Bros. Games, including their owned teams such as those at TT Games. However, it’s important to note that not all developers may move to the new company.

The parent company first started to consider a sale of some of its assets back in June of 2020, so this deal may have been on the table for some time. Hopefully, the timing of this won’t affect projects currently in production too much, but little is known regarding the situation at this time.

It’s likely that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is much too far in development for a cancellation, but with the recent announcement of a delay to its planned release date, there may be further setbacks caused as a result of these behind-the-scenes business deals. We’ll keep you updated on the latest LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga news and that of other LEGO games too.
