This is the last available set in the BrickLink Designer Program

The first five projects that will be transformed into LEGO sets as part of the BrickLink Designer Program have been revealed, but only one can still be ordered.

It seems that the BrickLink Designer Program has an underdog as part of its initial offering of sets as 910017 Kakapo has an extremely limited amount of orders still available before it reaches the maximum of 5,000 copies.

The underdog (or should that be underbird?) managed to beat both 910007 BIONICLE Legends and 910025 Particle Accelerator and take the last spot in the first crowdfunding round as neither build will now see the light of day as an official LEGO set.

The model, which is based on an endangered species of flightless parrot from New Zealand has proven more popular amongst builds than some may have been expecting with a unique and adorable build that may remind some of a larger version of 21301 Birds.

With moving wings and an assortment of hats for the Kakapo to wear, themfledge’s set is the very last chance for builders to own a piece of the first BrickLink Designer Program round, but there will be more to come in the future. In fact, there may be more for the first round as the team have promised an update for next week.

We’ll keep you updated as the story of the BrickLink Designer Program continues as it seems that the folks at BrickLink have a few lessons to learn after the initial crowdfunding round with the sets going for high prices on the secondary market already and 39 of the 41 days remaining until the deadline.
