US Treasury Secretary plugs The LEGO Batman Movie

Steve Mnuchin is a hedge fund manager, movie producer, and was recently made Treasury Secretary in the Trump administration. In the bizarre kind of story that can only happen on a Friday afternoon, his ethical stance is being questioned as he flippantly encouraged movie-goers to go and a movie he produced – The LEGO Batman Movie.

Market Watch report that he may have violated ethics laws:

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin urged an audience at an early-morning newsmakers event Friday to have their children see “Lego Batman,” a movie he produced before stepping into his Trump administration post.

“Well, I’m not allowed to promote anything that I’m involved in,” Mnuchin told Axios Executive Editor Mike Allen during an interview event hosted by the media company.

“So I just want to have the legal disclosure that you’ve asked me the question and I am not promoting any product. But you should send all your kids to ‘Lego Batman.’ “

It is being considered newsworthy as the Trump administration has already come under fire for perceived promotion of Ivanka Trump’s products by White House spokesperson Kellyanne Conway.
