Two LEGO Icons licences rumoured to be skipping 2026

Two licensed themes that returned under the LEGO Icons banner in 2025 will reportedly not be getting a follow-up in 2026.

While Stranger Things and The Legend of Zelda are already confirmed to be returning to shelves in 2026, Instagram user (and generally reliable source of LEGO rumours) tandnbricks claims in a new Instagram Story that Pirates of the Caribbean and The Simpsons will both be skipping 2026.

Those IPs both returned from periods of dormancy in 2025 under the LEGO Icons banner, with 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship and 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger respectively. But according to tandnbricks, they won’t be following in (for example) The Lord of the Rings’ footsteps by cooking up a new pirate ship or Springfield locale every year going forward.

This is to the best of their knowledge at the moment, of course, and given it’s still 2025 there’s every chance that either of these licences could still be on the cards for later in 2026 (or their info may just be wrong altogether). But even if these subthemes don’t return next year, it doesn’t mean they’re gone for good: The Legend of Zelda debuted in 2024 with 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, skipped 2025 and will be back with a new set in 2026.

We could therefore see either or both of these franchises back on shelves in 2027, presumably depending on how well their 2025 sets have performed. 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship was very difficult to come by in the initial weeks after release, suggesting it’s exceeded expectations, so if we were to nail our flag to the mast for either of these IPs to come back eventually it’d be Pirates of the Caribbean.

At the same time, it would be surprising to see the LEGO Group resurrect its long-retired The Simpsons minifigure moulds for a one-and-done set (while also missing out Marge and Maggie), so never say never…

LEGO Marvel modular 2026

Those two subthemes aren’t the only ones said to be skipping 2026: according to tandnbricks, LEGO Marvel’s line-up for next year won’t include a modular building for the second year running. The LEGO Group flipped the script for 2025, following 2024’s 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion with the first DC modular building in 76300 Arkham Asylum, and it seems we won’t be returning to the Marvel pantheon in 2026.

That leaves the door open to another DC modular building, and there are plenty of options: the Daily Planet, Wayne Manor, Gotham City Police Department, the Hall of Justice, and so on. But tandnbricks hasn’t referenced such a set one way or the other, so we’re deep into speculative territory at this point. The rumour is simply that Marvel is skipping the modular building subtheme again in 2026…

The next revived IP to hit shelves is LEGO Stranger Things, through January 1’s 11370 Stranger Things: The Creel House. Buy it day one and you’ll receive both 40891 Stranger Things: WSQK Radio Station and 40913 Vintage Parade Car, the latter of which will be free with all orders above £180 / $200 / €200.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
