WATCH: LEGO Indiana Jones 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol has a neat reference

The newly-revealed LEGO Indiana Jones 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol includes an unexpected reference to a classic LEGO theme.

Coming in at 1,545 pieces, 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol is the biggest of the three LEGO Indiana Jones sets arriving on shelves in April. (The fourth, 77014 The Temple of Doom, has been cancelled at the last minute.) And while 77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb probably boasts a bigger number of references, the only 18+ Indy set includes a very specific nod to a 30-year-old minifigure.

You’ll have to check out our latest YouTube video to see who we’re talking about, but it should be a familiar face to LEGO Pirates fans of a certain vintage. If this kind of deep dive into brand new LEGO sets is up your street, you might want to consider donning a fedora and whip-cracking your way over to our YouTube channel for more.

You can stay up to date with all our latest videos by subscribing, too. It’s a bit like going on a real Indiana Jones adventure, only with more screens and fewer deadly traps. The same hijinks await over at TikTok, where you can also find regular LEGO videos from Brick Fanatics.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
