Will Arnett wants LEGO MASTERS to smack-talk each other

In an interview with the latest season’s winning team, the duo revealed that Will Arnett encourages smack-talk between contestants to relieve stress for the teams.

Nick and Stacey came out on top of the latest season of LEGO MASTERS USA, impressing judges Amy and Jamie with their final build of a brick-built bookcase. After the show had wrapped, Brickset caught up with them to find out the highs and lows of appearing on the show.

When asked about their favourite interactions with Will, Amy, or Jamie, Nick and Stacey reiterated what plenty of other contestants have said in the past: Will Arnett is hilariously distracting.

I think what brought a lot of funny moments to the show was trying to pull out all of the sass and the smack talk,” said Nick. “We’re obviously not meant to be doing that. So it was really, really funny just watching Will try to pull these different sides of us, and it was just such a good way to snap us out a little bit of the seriousness of everything. And to remember to have fun, because that’s what it was all about at the end of the day.”

Yeah, he really wanted to get us to smack talk,” agreed Stacey. “We did not improve. I think we got worse.”

Despite not improving when it came to trash-talking the other contestants, Nick and Stacey enjoyed Will’s attempts to lighten the mood.

I know we always had a lot of fun with him,” remembered Nick. “You could tell…he would recognise when we were really struggling. I think that was evident in the golf challenge that he took some time out to comment on our struggle. He recognised that and really just wanted to encourage us to not let that kind of stuff get to us and to stay positive and stay on top of it. So yeah, the positivity was always there.”
