Another round of the BrickLink Designer Program has come to a close, revealing how the latest Castle creation's sales numbers stack up to the rest of the lot.
With the end of crowdfunding for Series 8 of the BrickLink Designer Program, we've gathered up the final sales numbers for the latest five sets. It's clear to see that Castle is still a crowd favourite subject, and it shouldn't be surprising to learn that 910064 Dustmark Keep sold the most pre-orders at 35,321 copies. 910065 Coconut Cape is nearly 10,000 copies behind it in second place.
You can take a look at the full sales numbers for the BrickLink Designer Program so far in the table below.
In case you hadn't noticed, there are no Castle creations towards the bottom of the list. We know that Castle is by far the most popular topic in the entirety of the BrickLink Designer Program, leaving us to wonder which one has sold the best. We've got the answers for you, and some insight as to why they sold so well.
910049 Adventure in Transylvania – 49,084 pre-orders

910049 Adventure in Transylvania from Series 5 is easily the most popular LEGO BrickLink Designer Program set, with a whopping 49,084 copies pre-ordered. This is only possible thanks to the stock reallocation strategy introduced in the more recent series.
As to why this model was so in-demand, it's likely a combination of the uniquely gothic architecture, links to a Castle faction that is sorely represented in the modern day – the Fright Knights – and the vampiric nature of the model, which is also not explored often in the LEGO portfolio. These aspects combined to appeal to an incredibly wide margin of the LEGO fandom, leading to nearly 50,000 pre-orders.
910057 Outlaw Forest Den – 45,036 pre-orders

Series 6's 910057 Outlaw Forest Den had 45,036 pre-orders back in the day, and it's not hard to see why this creation was quite so popular.
It's one of the more affordable and accessible LEGO Castle BrickLink Designer Program sets at £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99, and offers up a base for the Wolfpack faction after their return in a now-retired Castle retail release.
910062 Alchemist's Shop – 41,000 pre-orders

Series 7 has three sets in the top ranks of sales numbers for BrickLink Designer Program models. 910062 Alchemist's Shop, specifically, had 41,000 pre-orders, and we can see numerous reasons for this model's popularity.
One is an assortment of rare elements, including snake hair from Monkie Kid. Another is the fact that it pairs perfectly with the LEGO Ideas 21325 Medieval Blacksmith set, expanding a fan-favourite build. Finally, it has the overall appeal that comes with the Castle territory, combined with a fantastical design, balancing history with fantasy in a way that few other sets have.
910064 Dustmark Keep – 35,321 pre-orders

Series' 910064 Dustmark Keep stands strong at 35,321 pre-orders. It's likely to have been so popular for being set in a unique locale, as well as featuring multiple members of two new factions to the Castle scene. In fact, the model is a substantial base for one of them.
When mixing this with the general appeal of LEGO Castle, it's easy to see why it had 5,000 pre-orders over the intended max, but didn't do quite as well as other submissions.
910043 Forest Stronghold – 34,000 pre-orders

Similarly, in a unique locale, 910043 Forest Stronghold stands at 34,000 pre-orders and is a headquarters for the Forestmen (or Forest People). It has several common aspects with Dustmark Keep, explaining why it sits at this spot in the list.
It's also important to keep in mind that earlier series such as this weren't subject to the stock reallocation strategy, and may have sold much better had they been. 910043 Forest Stronghold received a different kind of boost, but one that was much more limited. That also goes for everything from this point onwards.
910047 Medieval Seaside Market – 34,000 pre-orders

910047 Medieval Seaside Market would likely have been one of the most popular LEGO BrickLink Designer Program sets had it been subject to the proper stock reallocation strategy. It has 34,000 pre-orders and is unlike any other LEGO Castle creation for depicting a dock built into a castle.
It's one of two Series 4 models in this list, and we only wish we could have seen just how many copies it sold with the stock reallocation strategy. It sold out extremely fast in Series 4, relative to other releases, but not quite as quickly as the other Series 4 entry.
910029 Mountain Fortress – 30,000 pre-orders

Before we get to that, the original Mountain Fortress sits at exactly 30,000 copies for selling out in Series 1. We don't see many LEGO Castles built into the snow, and this model remains one of the most stunning releases in the entirety of the BrickLink Designer Program. It's not hard to see why it was such a hit so long ago.
910045 Siege Encampment – 30,000 pre-orders

Rounding out the list at 30,000 pre-orders is the Siege Encampment. While that number is low, the Series 4 entry likely would have been one of the most popular Castle sets in the program, since it sold out faster than any other Castle creation so far. It was not subject to the stock reallocation strategy, but it likely would have gone far had it been.
The reason why this set was so incredibly popular lies in the fact that it has no castle. It is instead designed to be an add-on to any other fortress to create a complete siege scene. This is not something the LEGO Group has depicted so completely, whether in the modern era of LEGO Castle or its original era.
