A new update from the team at BrickLink has confirmed that 'unauthorised individuals' are related to the LEGO platform's shutdown.
BrickLink's team have shared an update on the recent shutdown, following reports of hacks. At the time of writing, the website has been down and inaccessible beyond an error message since at least November 4. This is stopping access to the site's archive of LEGO sets and pieces, the BrickLink Designer Program as well as stores selling elements and more.
The team have now stated that 'unauthorised individuals' are involved and a small number of accounts may have been accessed.
The full update reads, "Friday, November 3, we temporarily closed the BrickLink site due to unusual activity. Since then, the team has been working super hard to make sure we can reopen as soon as possible – and we’re getting closer to doing that.
Our investigations so far suggest that a very small percentage of our accounts may potentially have been accessed by unauthorised individuals. We’ll be in contact with people directly soon with more details.
Thank you for your patience and support – the kind posts we see from all of you on social media make a real difference to the team here. We know it’s very frustrating and we’re sorry that BrickLink will unfortunately be closed for a bit longer. Many thanks, your BrickLink team"
We've summarised everything we know about the situation at BrickLink in a recent report, written before this update was provided. Take all unconfirmed information with caution as the situation develops. In the meantime, it has been recommended by other users to change any passwords for accounts connected to Bricklink as an extra precaution.
