Charles Martinet is no longer the voice of Super Mario

Voicing Mario in the iconic games, as well as the LEGO Super Mario figure, Charles Martinet is officially moving on from voicing Mario.

It has been officially announced that Charles Martinet will no longer be voicing Mario and Luigi in Super Mario games. Instead, he will now take on the role of Mario Ambassador, travelling around the world to promote the games.

Voicing Mario and Luigi for the past 28 years, Martinet's voice is featured in the LEGO Super Mario sets and app, including 71360 Adventures with Mario Starter Course and 71387 Adventures with Luigi Starter Course, though these were mostly clips recycled from the games with some new recordings throughout.

With the Super Mario movie making an impressive amount at the box office and another game on the way – Super Mario Bros. Wonder – it's unlikely that there won't be a replacement for Charles Martinet eventually and he's not completely exiting the Super Mario franchise in any case.
