Collectible LEGO Superman tins coming later this summer

An upcoming issue of the LEGO Specials magazine will feature two different collectible LEGO Superman tins, mirroring the approach to last year’s LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader tins.

The 25th-anniversary edition of the official LEGO Star Wars magazine offered up two collectible Darth Vader tins, distributed seemingly at random around the UK and Europe. One tin was produced in the shape of Vader’s helmet, while the other recreated a trading card with the LEGO Star Wars logo and a Darth Vader minifigure on the front.

The LEGO Specials magazine – which costs more than the regular LEGO mags and jumps between different themes – is now set to replicate that approach later this summer with LEGO Superman. BricksFanz reports that a future issue of the title will include a free Superman minifigure along with one of two metal tins. The first recreates the Superman logo, while the second mirrors the trading card aesthetic of 2024’s Vader tin.

Whichever tin you end up with, you’ll also get this year’s new Superman minifigure, which is otherwise included in 76302 Superman Mech vs. Lex Luthor (check out our review here) and features both a plastic cape and a double-sided head. It’s the DC hero’s first appearance in LEGO since 2020, timed to match the release year of James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, which hits cinemas on July 11.

The Superman edition of the LEGO Specials magazine will apparently follow next month’s NINJAGO Legacy edition, so is likely to wind up on store shelves in the UK in August. And with one eye on the frenzy around last year’s Darth Vader tins, we can probably expect superhero fans to be scouring retailers around the country in hopes of adding both unique tins to their collections…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
