Comparing both LEGO Star Wars K-2SO droid figures

Only two K-2SO figures have been released to date, but are the pair of LEGO Star Wars Imperial security droids exactly the same?

Andor fans will have had plenty to celebrate recently, with the second season of the live-action Disney+ show currently being streamed in three-episode chunks and a new LEGO Star Wars set having launched last week as part of this year’s May the 4th celebrations.

75399 Rebel U-Wing Starfighter is a 594-piece build that comes with minifigures of Cassian Andor, Dedra Meero and an ISB Tactical Agent, as well as a K-2SO figure. While at first glance the droid may appear to be exactly the same as the one that was included in the long-since retired 75156 Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle, there are in fact a number of subtle differences between the two.

For starters, the K-2SO from 2016 has a dark grey and silver printed front panel, whereas 75399 Rebel U-Wing Starfighter’s droid boasts an all silver print. Then there’s battle damage, with the older figure looking like it’s seen much more action, with silvery dots of bare metal on the sides of its head.

The 75156 Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle figure also has a tiny red dot on the left-hand side of its head to indicate a light, a very minor detail that’s missing on the updated version. It’s worth noting that the overall quality of the printing on the new K-2SO figure appears to have declined slightly, as can be seen on the Imperial insignia located on the droid’s shoulder below, although the image is ever so slightly bigger this time around.

While the majority of the elements used to create 75399 Rebel U-Wing Starfighter’s droid figure appear to match those of its previous counterpart, the new K-2SO’s legs utilise the updated Super Battle Droid legs that were introduced last year in 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack.

It also looks as if the recently-revealed 75434 K-2SO’s own droid figure will match the one included in 75399 Rebel U-Wing Starfighter, although we’ll have to wait and see if the upcoming set ends up featuring a third variant of the fan-favourite character.

We’ll be able to find out for sure when 75434 K-2SO is released on August 1, 2025, with the LEGO Star Wars set priced at £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99 for 845 pieces and available for pre-order now. In the meantime, be sure to check out our full review of 75399 Rebel U-Wing Starfighter right here.
