Could we get a LEGO Star Wars Collectible Minifigure Series?

A dubious rumour is currently circulating that suggests LEGO Star Wars Collectible Minifigures Series may be on its way, despite past evidence.

Back in May 2021, we reported that a rumoured LEGO Star Wars Collectible Minifigures Series was said to be in the works, although the source was ultimately proven to be false. The report stated that the potential LEGO Star Wars CMF would have focused on Disney+ TV shows, such as The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but this appears to have been pure speculation with nothing released officially since that report.

However, a post on Instagram from yourlegodealer claims that a LEGO Star Wars Collectible Minifigures Series is coming for $6.99 with minifigures based on classic designs. This is said to come from Eurobricks, with one thread of users refuting this and pointing back to the user as the source, questioning their legitimacy. The original post claims to have found the information on Eurobricks though no link is provided and any mention of a LEGO Star Wars minifigure series seems to be limited to this thread or speculation on the site.

An extra heavy pinch of salt should be taken with this claim and while it would be great to one day see a series of LEGO Star Wars Collectible Minifigures, it was explained following the 2021 rumour why this isn’t possible with the LEGO Group’s Star Wars contract.

“Any time any toy company works with a licence partner, it’s through a contract,” Michael Lee Stockwell explained to Brick Fanatics. “Simply put, the contract that we have with Lucasfilm and Disney is to develop construction toys. We can include minifigures in our construction sets, because that’s part of the play experience, but we do not have a licence to develop action figures.”

It has been almost two years since this explanation was provided but given that other manufacturers produce Star Wars action figures still, it seems unlikely that there has been enough change to accommodate a LEGO Star Wars CMF at this time. For now, you might be wise to treat this rumour as dubious and take it with an extra heavy pinch of salt, just in case. Remember that all rumours should be taken with caution in any case until officially confirmed by the LEGO Group too.
