Czech out Prague’s brand new LEGO store

Residents of and visitors to Prague can now go to Czechia’s first LEGO store, which offers the unique features we’ve come to expect from new LEGO retail premises.

The LEGO Group has been dramatically expanding its number of LEGO stores, with 66 opening in the first half of 2022 alone. However, each new opening is intriguing, as new LEGO stores attempt to capture something of their surroundings in the décor. The latest example of this concept can be found in Prague – capital of Czechia – as the country’s first LEGO store has opened here today.

Visitors to the store will find brick-built tributes to locations such as Wenceslas Square and the National Museum, as well as a giant model of a knight on horseback. Comments from Reddit user canderouscze (who has posted a number of photos online) indicate it comes with all the usual amenities, such as a Pick a Brick wall and a Build a Minifigure station.

The arrival of a LEGO store in Prague may leave some of us wondering why one hasn’t appeared before now. That’s because the city is home to the LEGO Museum (reportedly, the world’s largest private museum dedicated to the toy) and a LEGO factory in the nearby Kladno – which was inaugurated back in the year 2000. That factory has helped Czechia become the largest exporter of toys in Europe – but not, it seems, a direct seller of the toys it produces.

In any case, Prague is shaping up to be a solid destination for any LEGO fan. If you happen to find yourself in the city, its LEGO store can be found in the Westfield Chodov shopping centre.
