Every brand new LEGO set launching in September 2023

September is shaping up to be a busy month for new LEGO releases, with heavy hitters from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Icons and more. Here’s a rundown of everything coming our way.

Maybe you haven’t had chance to catch up on all of August’s new sets yet, or perhaps your backlog extends all the way back to June or even January. The LEGO Group doesn’t care. September will see 24 new LEGO sets arrive on shelves from themes including Marvel, Icons, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Disney, all vying for your attention and budget. And there’s plenty in and amongst those sets worth your time, too.

Thus continues the constant struggle between catching up on your wish list and just buying what’s new and shiny, but it’s at least a shared problem. If you want to see what’s on the LEGO cards next month, check out our theme-by-theme breakdown of all of September’s releases below.

LEGO BrickHeadz September 2023 sets

The blue blur makes his BrickHeadz debut in September, and he’ll be joined on shelves by Miles “Tailes” Prower. Sonic the Hedgehog BrickHeadz were basically an inevitability once the LEGO Group launched into a full theme for the video game icon in August, so it’s not surprising to see this pair hot on the heels of the minifigure-scale playsets.

LEGO City September 2023 sets

Just one new LEGO City set is launching in September, but it’s curiously timed: while nearly all adult eyes will be on 10318 Concorde, the evergreen kid-friendly theme is pumping out its own plane in 60367 Passenger Airplane. This minifigure-friendly transport includes 913 pieces, many of which go into accompanying vehicles to round out the airport experience. It debuts alongside this year’s advent calendar on September 1.

LEGO Disney September 2023 sets

The LEGO Group is not stemming the tide of Disney 100th anniversary sets any time soon, as two more celebratory products pop on to shelves on September 1. They sit at either end of the value spectrum, one a minifigure diorama with a stupidly-inflated price and the other a buildable object that – frankly – looks a bargain.

LEGO Harry Potter September 2023 sets

The Wizarding World takes centre stage for the start of the new school year, as the theme’s fourth-biggest set to date drops on September 1 for LEGO Insiders members (and September 4 for everyone else). 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition is a Harry Potter set three years in the making, and will be a quintessential purchase for anyone lucky enough to already own 75978 Diagon Alley.

LEGO Icons September 2023 sets

Flying straight on to LEGO Store shelves on September 4 (for LEGO Insiders) is 10318 Concorde, that rare LEGO Icons set to take to the skies rather than the roads. Recreating one of history’s most iconic airliners is about to unlock a brand new audience for the LEGO Group, chiefly aviation enthusiasts everywhere.

LEGO Ideas September 2023 sets

Also arriving on September 4 for LEGO Insiders is 21342 The Insect Collection, which does for bugs what 21301 Birds did for our feathered friends in 2015. Based on a project by Spanish designer José María, the 1,111-piece model combines five different species (the ladybug is still a species, even if it’s a 1×1 tile) on three different brick-built habitats.

LEGO Friends September 2023 sets

The rejuvenated Friends theme is changing with the seasons in 2023, and as we approach winter in the northern hemisphere (it’ll be here before you know it), the mini-dolls are taking to the slopes for their latest vacay. 41756 Holiday Ski Slope and Café looks like another home run even if you sub in classic minifigures, while there’s another advent calendar up for grabs in September too.

LEGO Marvel September 2023 sets

They’ve been popping up on shelves in certain territories for a couple of weeks already, but 71039 Marvel Series 2 will finally be widely available from September 1. The latest series of Collectible Minifigures pulls another dozen Disney+ characters together in new cardboard packaging, which has replaced flexible foil bags for environmental purposes (much to the chagrin of many). If you want even more minifigures, check out this year’s LEGO Marvel advent calendar.

The most colourful single wave of LEGO Star Wars sets in recent memory (and Chewbacca) will debut on September 1. Among them are three new models based on Star Wars: Ahsoka, along with the first minifigure-scale Republic Gunship since 2013. If LEGO Star Wars is your jam, you’re probably going to want everything here day one. Except Chewbacca. Sorry, Chewie.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
