With the incoming arrival of LEGO Marvel 76215 Black Panther, we’re diving into the brick-built history of the superhero.

76215 Black Panther is launching in October as one of the largest LEGO Marvel models ever released and it represents a monumental part of the character’s evolution in bricks, starting with a brick-built figure and now culminating in a LEGO bust.

All LEGO deals

As Black Panther’s presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe expanded, the number of LEGO sets based on or featuring the character each year has grown, so here’s every LEGO Black Panther set in the order of their release year.

For this list, we’ll only be including sets that include T’Challa with mention of other relevant models based on Wakanda and won’t feature keyrings or polybags, to keep it simple.

2016 – Marvel Cinematic Universe Debut and BrickHeadz

To time with the release of Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther’s debut in the MCU, the LEGO Group released a wave of models inspired by the film, including 76047 Black Panther Pursuit with the first minifigure of the character.

A few months later at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, an exclusive BrickHeadz figure of Black Panther was made available exclusively to attendees in what would turn out to be a sign of things to come.

2018 – Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War

After a break from LEGO Black Panther sets in 2017, 2018 started with the arrival of the Black Panther models, based on the MCU film of the same name. There were two builds in this range, with two Black Panther minifigures between them – 76099 Rhino Face-Off by the Mine and 76100 Royal Talon Fighter Attack.

Later that year, Avengers: Infinity War arrived with much of the film set in Wakanda, reflected in the wave of models including 76101 Outrider Dropship Attack, 76103 Corvus Glaive Thresher Attack (which is the only one to include a Black Panther minifigure) and 76104 The Hulkbuster Smash-Up.

2020 – Comic-inspired

There was only one LEGO Black Panther set in 2020, following the BrickHeadz figure with a comic-inspired design.

Featuring a cape taken straight from the page, 76142 Avengers Speeder Bike Attack includes an exclusive Black Panther minifigure.

2021 – The Infinity Saga and What If…?

LEGO Marvel 76192 Avengers Endgame Final Battle contents high quality

The focus for LEGO Black Panther was back on the MCU in 2021 with LEGO Marvel returning to previous films with The Infinity Saga range. This meant another wave of Endgame builds, including 76186 Black Panther Dragon Flyer featuring another Wakandan aircraft and 76192 Avengers: Endgame Final Battle.

However, there was another T’Challa minifigure in 2021 featured in 71031 Marvel Studios. The first and only series of Marvel Collectable Minifigures at the time of writing represented What If…?, the alternate-universe-exploring Disney+ show that included T’Challa Star-Lord.

2022 – Wakanda Forever

With the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever sequel just months away and following the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, 2022 is the biggest year ever for LEGO Black Panther builds – literally. There’s a duo of models based on the film with 76211 Shuri’s Sunbird and 76213 King Namor’s Throne Room, a set inspired by the first film with 76212 Shuri’s Lab as well as a mech for the hero in 76204 Black Panther Mech Armor.

However, they all pale in comparison to 76215 Black Panther at nearly 3,000 pieces. This nearly life-sized bust of Black Panther pays tribute to the character with his gauntlets, helmet and necklace recreated at a scale never seen before. It will be available starting on October 1 for £299.99 in the UK, $349.99 in the US and €349.99 in Europe.
