Fifth LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog 2023 set revealed

A fifth LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog set has popped up on the kids’ section of LEGO.com, giving us a first look at 76993 Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot.

Four LEGO sets based on the blue blur are already confirmed to be launching in August, the initial promotional material for which also teased a fifth set in the form of the Death Egg Robot. That model has now been revealed through the Play Zone section of LEGO.com, showing off the bright red robot – piloted by Dr. Eggman – and the menacing baddie’s minion Cubot.

Also included in 76993 Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot are Sonic himself – obvs – along with the same speed sphere mechanism incorporated into the other Sonic the Hedgehog sets, with a slammer that should allow the retro video game character to set off at some speed. The description for the set challenges builders to launch Sonic at Dr. Eggman while avoiding spikes, which doesn’t look too difficult. (They are tiny spikes.)

The mech itself is equipped with a rotating six-stud shooter, while a few of Sonic’s tiny animal pals are also included for Dr. Eggman to capture (and Sonic to rescue). There’s no confirmation yet of how much 76993 Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot will cost, nor when it will be available (or even how many pieces it includes), but all that info should come to light when the set surfaces on LEGO.com proper.
