Final LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary minifigure rumoured

The final LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary minifigure in the line-up is now rumoured to be revealed, possibly being the most heartwarming addition.

As reported on Instagram by maxbautde, the last of the six rumoured LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary minifigures is believed to be R2-KT. The pink and white astromech has appeared a few times in animation and live-action but the story behind this droid makes it the perfect pick.

Featuring most recently in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, R2-KT was created by the R2-D2 Builders Club in 2005 as a tribute to Katie Johnson. She was the seven-year-old daughter of Albin Johnson – the founder of the 501st Legion costuming group who has years of voluntary charity work under their belt.

Katie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in 2004, and Albin received support from across the Star Wars community. Katie was bedridden due to her declining health and she wished for a droid to watch over her. Jerry Greene of the R2 Builders heard this request and he and fellow builders organized to assemble an R2 unit for Katie, which they painted pink and named R2-KT.

According to Albin, R2-KT was kept by Katie’s side in her final days. R2-KT has visited children’s hospitals to spread awareness of pediatric illness and has attended Star Wars events too.

The astromech has since been added to the Star Wars canon and has plenty of merchandise created for fundraising. A LEGO minifigure of this character makes sense for the final slot in the 25th-anniversary minifigure line-up, though whether the LEGO Group might continue the fundraising efforts is not currently rumoured.

This report should be taken with caution as this is only a rumour at the time of writing and only Fives and Darth Malak have been confirmed for LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary minifigures so far, as well as a unique Darth Maul.

Redditor Clay_Bricks states that R2-KT could be included in a newly-rumoured LEGO Star Wars set with the number 40755 and 383 pieces as well as three Rebel Troopers and three Stormtroopers. The rumoured set is stated to be released in October 2024.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
