First LEGO NINJAGO 2021 reviews landing next week

Watch out for the first wave of LEGO NINJAGO 2021 reviews from Brick Fanatics, which are on the way as early as next week.

We’re currently assembling the first batch of LEGO NINJAGO Legacy sets launching in 2021, ready to cast our expert eye over them for our in-depth reviews.

That means digging through our archive of previous NINJAGO sets to compare them to this latest line-up of Legacy releases. 71738 Zane’s Titan Mech Battle, for example, takes one half of 2015’s 70737 Titan Mech Battle and gives it what looks to be a serious upgrade.

There’s at least one NINJAGO Legacy set in this wave that doesn’t actually have a physical predecessor, though. 71742 Overlord Dragon takes its inspiration from the second season of the NINJAGO TV show, with a design that’s never appeared in bricks before.

The embargo on this wave of NINJAGO Legacy models lifts on December 15, so make sure to check back then for a first look at what the action-adventure theme is bringing to shelves in January.

Here’s the five sets we’ll be covering from next week:

71735 Tournament of Elements
71736 Boulder Blaster
71737 X1 Ninja Charger
71738 Zane’s Titan Mech Battle
71742 Overlord Dragon

All these sets are due to launch on January 1. LEGO designer Niek van Slagmaat has already shared a sneak peek at 71738 Zane’s Titan Mech Battle, tweeting out concept artwork and images of prototype models.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
