First LEGO NINJAGO 2023 sets officially revealed

The LEGO Group has revealed the first batch of LEGO NINJAGO sets arriving in 2023, and – to nobody’s surprise – it’s a healthy mix of dragons, mechs, jets and cars.

This is the second wave of NINJAGO Core sets, which iterate on fundamental NINJAGO concepts, bridging the gap between 4+ builds and regular System sets. The colours and characters linked to each dragon, car and mech may change, but this will all be very familiar territory for veteran LEGO NINJAGO fans. The more interesting stuff will likely come along in the summer, following the culmination of this year’s Crystalized subtheme.

That doesn’t mean this is an entirely forgettable wave, though: more mechs and dragons isn’t a bad thing if those sets are designed well, and these do look pretty good at first glance. Obvious highlights include 71785 Jay’s Titan Mech and 71786 Zane’s Ice Dragon Creature, but 71787 Creative Ninja Brick Box is an interesting – and as-yet-unexplored – concept for NINJAGO.
