Five K-pop videos that could also make great LEGO sets

Following the reveal of LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite, we couldn’t help but wonder what other K-pop music videos would lend themselves well to LEGO sets.

If there’s one thing that K-pop bands do well, it’s incredible music videos. The colours, the choreography, the spectacle – it all comes together in ways that can sometimes be even better than the songs.

It’s hard to pick just a few, but we’ve gathered together five music videos that we think would lend themselves particularly well to being reimagined in LEGO elements. Think we’ve missed any? Let us know in the comments.

5 – BIGBANG – Fantastic Baby

This music video follows BIGBANG leading a revolution against the government. While a brick-built rebellion would be cool to see, there are particular stand out images that are just begging to be immortalised as a LEGO set. For example, there are multiple enormous stone thrones spotted throughout the video, which band members sit on in ever more outlandish outfits. A new throne series, a la LEGO Star Wars helmets, anyone?

4 – BLACKPINK – Ddu-du Ddu-du

Much like Fantastic Baby, there are almost too many shots to choose from in BLACKPINK’s Ddu-du Ddu-du – but can anything really be better than a diamond-studded tank? The trippy appearance of the stone room, with vaulted ceilings, would also lend itself perfectly to a display piece from the LEGO Group.

3 – PSY – Gangnam Style

Some LEGO fans have complained that there’s not a big enough market to warrant a LEGO BTS set. Judging by people’s reactions so far, that’s not true, but if it’s really a concern, then why not pick the most well-known K-pop song in the world?

At the time of writing, Gangnam Style’s music video has over 4.65 billion streams on YouTube alone. The only ‘problem’ is that PSY goes through so many locations with his signature dance move that it would be hard to pick just one, but we’re sure the LEGO designers would be well-placed to find a fitting setting for a LEGO set.

2 – G)I-DLE – Oh My God

We have a very particular vision for this LEGO set. The music video for Oh My God does an excellent job at giving each band member her own space to let her voice and style shine. Each section of the video has its own unique staging and colours – so why not create a LEGO set that showcases each one of these spaces? It could perhaps turn on an axis, so that you can showcase whichever part of the video you prefer, giving each minifigure its time in the spotlight.

1 – BTS – Blood, Sweat, and Tears

Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without another BTS addition. This music video presents the seven band members resisting temptation from the devil, with the most striking setting being their group meal, surrounded by spooky trees and a pink and red backdrop. A diorama-style LEGO model of this scene would certainly make a splash, in direct contrast to the pastel colours of 21339 BTS Dynamite.

While none of these ideas are likely to be a reality anytime soon, you can prepare to take home LEGO Ideas 21339. BTS Dynamite. It will be on sale sometime in March, retailing for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.
