Five LEGO Christmas gifts to improve your LEGO life

LEGO collecting is no joke; here are five Christmas gifts that can help improve the life of any LEGO fan.

Take it from us, there comes a time in any LEGO collector’s life when it seems like the number and size of sets have got overwhelming. When it comes to cleaning, storing, and organising LEGO elements and models, it can take up a surprising amount of time and energy.

This Christmas, give the gift of peace of mind of with these present ideas that will make any LEGO life easier.

5 – Cleaning Pen

Unless you keep your LEGO sets in an airtight vacuum, dust will inevitably build up on your models. The LEGO Group recommends cleaning your builds hand using water no hotter than 40°C and a soft cloth or sponge. However, another tip is to use a tool from another hobby: photography.

A camera brush, like this one from Hama, is designed to clean lenses and filters, but can work just as well on delicate LEGO sets. The fine brush is good for brushing off dust and dirt, while the other end has a curved velvet surface with special fibers for particularly thorough cleaning and removal of streaks, ideal for getting rid of fingerprints and grime.

4 – LEGO Tray

Moving LEGO builds around your home is always a stress-filled business, but these trays from Modern Silo on Etsy could make it easier. They have base blates built into them, so you can attach a LEGO build to them and have a firm base to lift them with.

Plus, they can act as a quirky way to display and elevate certain treasured LEGO models. If you’re feeling extra kind, you can also personalise these trays with a name or message to the person you’re giving it to.

3 – LEGO Minifigure Display

While LEGO sets are often built with display in mind, any collection of minifigures can quickly spiral into random piles of LEGO people that can easily get lost. This display frame from FriksBricksGifts via Etsy offers an aesthetic alternative to dusty minifigures sitting on a random shelf. For rare or unique minifigures, there can be no better place to call home.

2 – LEGO Building Tools

Although every LEGO set comes with a brick separator, sometimes you need some extra help in building. This kit of LEGO tools from M.O.C., including a measuring plate, a hammer with a soft end so that the blocks are not damaged when hitting, a sturdy brick separator, and a pair of lightweight pliers for gripping stuck blocks, can make a real difference to your building efficiency.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
