Five new LEGO releases to look forward to in 2022 – September update

September’s new LEGO releases have just launched but we’re looking ahead at what else is still to come online and in stores in 2022.

As we continue the run to the end of 2022, there’s still plenty to look forward to in the final few months of the year. From the debut of LEGO Avatar to the biggest LEGO Super Mario set so far, here’s five new LEGO releases you can still look forward to in 2022, as of September 2022.

5 – LEGO Avatar

The launch of a new theme is yet to come this year as LEGO Avatar releases its first wave of models on October 1. Avatar is the highest-grossing film of all time and has a sequel coming to the big screen later this year.

While no sets based on the sequel have been confirmed just yet, the first movie’s models offer unique builds combining mechanical elements with nature and even bringing back the tall legs first used for LEGO Toy Story.

4 – The 2022 Winter Village set

This is only speculation until the LEGO Group makes an official announcement, but each year a new entry into the growing LEGO Winter Village releases around October.

While nothing is known regarding a 2022 build yet, it seems likely that the tradition will continue this year. Provided it doesn’t you can still catch up on previous entries with both 10275 Elf Club House and 10293 Santa’s Visit both available now, though the former retires at the end of 2022.

3 – 71411 The Mighty Bowser

Since LEGO Super Mario’s launch year, the theme has been distinctly split into models aimed at older and younger audiences with the latter based on nostalgic games and consoles as well as complex builds.

The latter is what 71411 The Mighty Bowser focuses on, acting as a functional and ultimate boss battle for the end of a LEGO Super Mario course. Designed for both display and play, 71411 The Mighty Bowser is the largest LEGO Super Mario set ever made and launches on October 1.

2 – LEGO Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Also releasing later this year is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the LEGO Group have a duo of models inspired by the film ready for it too.

Similarly, they launch at the start of October and include new, detailed minifigures such as Namor and Attuma. You’ll also be able to find a set inspired by the first film, 76212 Shuri’s Lab, and a new keyring.

1 – 21336 The Office

After multiple projects proposing the sitcom for LEGO Ideas, 21336 The Office is, finally, almost here as in a month, the cast of the popular show joins the minifigure world in a set filled with references.

It’s the latest in a growing range of LEGO sitcom sets under the Ideas branding and will be available to purchase from October 1 as well.
