Four updates coming from LEGO Ideas over the next week

We’re about to enter a bumper week of news and future set confirmations for LEGO Ideas, with four updates to wait for over the next seven days.

Unless there are any last-minute delays, there’s going to be a lot of exciting LEGO Ideas news over the next week. The progress of four LEGO Ideas challenges means that we can expect the announcement of three fan-designed projects that will become future sets, and the start of a fan vote to help pick another.

These announcements will come in the middle of a major LEGO release period, with dozens of builds launching on June 1 from Star Wars to Icons and even LEGO Ideas. Considering how busy it’s about to get, a guide to the LEGO Ideas news on the way will be useful.

Here’s what you need to be on the look out for from LEGO Ideas over the next week, when they’re taking place, and what you can expect to see as a result of the news.

Timeless Creations fan vote

Up to five builds will be revealed for the Timeless Creations fan vote tomorrow, May 27. Each LEGO Ideas user will have one vote as per usual to cast on one of the models, all taking a real item and transforming it into a LEGO model, similar to 21327 Typewriter. The winning build will become a future LEGO Ideas set and each vote will help to influence the grand prize winner, as well as the fan vote winner.

Twist of Nostalgia challenge winner announcement

The subject of a future gift-with-purchase based on a classic theme will be announced on May 28 as part of the Twist of Nostalgia challenge. 13 submissions were selected for the fan vote stage, one of which will be announced as the future official LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase later this week. The nostalgic themes covered in the finalists include Elves, Classic Space, Power Miners, Fabuland and more.

90s Throwback – The Opening Act winner announcement

The winner of the first of the two LEGO Ideas ’90s challenges will be announced on June 2, revealing which of the projects has won the vote and will become an official LEGO Ideas set. The options include builds inspired by The X-Files, Edward Scissorhands, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Jumanji and The Fifth Element.

90s Throwback – The Next Chapter winner announcement

The winner of the second of the two LEGO Ideas ’90s challenges, asking for smaller models, will also be announced on June 2. The projects in contention for a future set in this challenge include ones for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mr. Bean, The Mighty Ducks, Wallace & Gromit and Forrest Gump.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
