Some LEGO sets aren’t meant to be the Millennium Falcon

The LEGO community is currently obsessed with making every set a Millennium Falcon, even if it means twisting the body of a LEGO Spacebaby.

From making a massive Millennium Falcon out of spare LEGO elements to turning LEGO spaceships, cars and animals into the iconic Star Wars ship, the latest building trend making waves in the LEGO community is tasking you with making a LEGO Millennium Falcon out of any official set.

Apparently, that challenge also stretches to the recent 40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut gift-with-purchase, as aoden60 on Reddit has demonstrated. One glance at this alternate build, though, and you’ll see why it deserves an individual spotlight.

To be fair to aoden60, this is an incredible alternate build, it just so happens to be equally unsettling when you consider that this used to be a baby. Perhaps the most unnerving part of the model is that the Spacebaby’s face is now split in half and warped to form the radar dish. That appears to be the goal of this recent LEGO trend, though – to make a LEGO Millennium Falcon, no matter what.

“I thought the baby melted in the heat until I read the description,” states IronRisu in the comments.

As Aerodrache states, “This is turning into another universal benchmark. Does it compute? Make it run Doom. Does it display graphics? Make it play Bad Apple. Is it a LEGO kit? Make it into a Millennium Falcon.”

This new LEGO building trend is so popular that it has inspired a dedicated subreddit, filled to the brim with alternate builds of official sets. Evidently, every LEGO set be turned into a Millennium Falcon with enough effort and it will be interesting to see how the community innovates the trend next, no matter how cursed the creations become.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
