Free LEGO World Play Day make and take event announced

LEGO Stores in the US and Canada will be hosting an upcoming make and take event themed around World Play Day 2025.

The LEGO Group recently announced it would be celebrating this year’s World Play Day with a unique challenge for kids to make their own cities much more fun. On June 11, 2025, young builders will be called upon to bring their ideas to life though a variety of special events, which will be occurring in Berlin, Boston, London and Shanghai.

In addition, LEGO Stores in the US and Canada will also be marking World Play Day 2025 with a free make and take model up for grabs. Visitors in those regions who pop into their nearest participating location can get their hands on the colourful build on June 11 from 5pm to 7p and either assemble it there and then or construct it at home later.

The LEGO World Play Day Planet appears to feature a tiny brick-built globe, complete with a red LEGO brick, a small duck, a UFO and a shark, plus a black display stand to place the completed model on.

The free LEGO World Play Day Planet will be limited to one set per guest on a first come first serve basis, while stocks last. If you’re planning on picking up the freebie build, you’re best to check with your local store in advance to find out if it will be taking part in the promotion.

As part of this year’s World Play Day, riverside locations in Shanghai will be turned into playful immersive experiences; there’ll be takeovers of local Berlin Spätis to explore kids’ passion for music and sport; interactive pop-ups inspired by local Boston culture will appear; and there’ll be a Play Pavilion in London in partnership with Serpentine.

Additional activities happening in the run-up to World Play Day include:

  • LEGO Festival at seven LEGOLAND resorts around the world
  • Free LEGO Education World Play Day Educator Toolkit available to teachers from May 19
  • Build the Change Playful Cities activity at LEGO House, LEGOLAND Discovery Centres and more than 30 community partners around the globe
