The future of LEGO Star Wars according to science
Though the LEGO Group keeps its LEGO Star Wars line-up notoriously unpredictable, there may be one surprisingly data-driven way to guess what comes next.
On May the 4th, Nielsen Media Research – an organisation specialising in audience measurement and streaming analytics – released new viewing figures showing what U.S. audiences are watching across the Star Wars universe.
By digging into that data, Matthew has built a set of very educated predictions about where the LEGO Group could focus next. The logic is simple: the most-watched shows and most-streamed films are also the most commercially viable sources for future sets.
The results, unsurprisingly, point towards strong demand for one familiar character and his corner of the galaxy.
Matthew also highlights a few more specific set possibilities based on standout viewing trends, but if you’re a sequel trilogy sympathiser, you might want to brace yourself…
It’s a fun, data-led dive into what could shape the LEGO Group’s next wave of LEGO Star Wars sets – and potentially what has been influencing them for years.
