Has one of the LEGO Harry Potter 20th anniversary sets been delayed?

The release of the flagship set in this summer’s LEGO Harry Potter 20th anniversary wave may be delayed until August.

76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets was originally supposed to arrive on June 1, alongside the rest of the 20th anniversary sets – including 76386 Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake and 76387 Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter. Now, Zusammengebaut reports that third-party retailers including JB Spielwaren have been told by the LEGO Group that the set will not be available to sell until August 2.

At the moment, 76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets is still listed at LEGO.com with a launch date of June 1 in the UK, US and Germany, and is able to be pre-ordered in the UK and Europe. But according to a comment below Zusammengebaut’s original story from user ‘The Dennis’, the set won’t be available through any retailers worldwide, including official LEGO channels, until August.

That’s apparently due to ‘errors in production planning’, although we can confirm that review copies of the set have at least gone out to LEGO Fan Media (including Brick Fanatics). We’ve reached out to the LEGO Group to either confirm or deny the alleged delay.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for our review of 76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets tomorrow. For the moment at least, you can pre-order four of this summer’s LEGO Harry Potter 20th anniversary sets at LEGO.com in the UK and Europe.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
