How LEGO Technic 42110 Land Rover Defender came to be

LEGO Designer Milan Reindl reveals how he collaborated with Land Rover to make LEGO Technic 42110 Land Rover Defender an authentic model.

In a new video, fans get a peek behind-the-scenes of the design process that went into creating LEGO Technic 42110 Land Rover Defender, the latest Technic set to be released. This new addition to the official YouTube channel follows the designer behind the model through his journey with the Land Rover Defender build.

“I have always loved cars, especially those rugged off-roaders,” says LEGO Designer Milan Reindl. “So when the chance came to work on the LEGO Technic version of the new Defender, I jumped at it.”

“When you start on a project like this it is vital that you get a feel for both the vehicle itself and the company creating it,” Milan explains.” That is why my visit to the land Rover design facility was so important. You are always a little nervous about how you will be received but the team couldn’t have been more open and helpful.

“I returned to Billund full of inspiration, ready to take my model to the next level. It is actually surprising to see how much the process of creating a LEGO Technic model mirrors the real car industry, or at least it certain feels that way, I built model after model, each one a small refinement on the one that went before. Slowly, but surely, it started to take shape.”
