Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny promises a rip-roaring time

The trailer for the fifth Indiana Jones movie has finally arrived, giving us a peek at a potential swan song for the action hero.

While Indiana Jones didn’t necessarily need a fifth movie, it’s undeniable that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull left a sour taste in our mouths. As such, after years of anticipation, one is finally arriving – with all the car chases and Nazi-punching we’ve come to expect.

Taking place in 1969, the movie sees an old (well, older) Indy set out on a new adventure – with the ‘dial of destiny’ presumably playing an important role. Old friend Sallah makes a brief appearance with John Rhys-Davies reprising his role, and new friends (like Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who plays Indy’s goddaughter Helena) are along for the ride as well.

The movie trailer jumps between a variety of different setpieces very quickly, so it’s difficult to get a sense of the overarching plot. However, we do know that there will be a fast-paced rickshaw chase, a few Nazi fights, some underwater scenes and Harrison Ford riding a horse in a subway. Any of these could provide fodder for LEGO sets going ahead, although (if the older LEGO Indy sets are any indication) expect the Nazi elements to be downplayed in whatever LEGO products we get.

A revived LEGO Indiana Jones theme hasn’t yet been confirmed by the LEGO Group, although we do suspect one is on the way – if earlier rumours are to be believed, at least. Like other LEGO licensed themes of this ilk, it will probably be split between sets inspired by the new film and sets inspired by the older ones. As such, if you didn’t pick up the first wave of sets in 2008, this may be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be appearing in cinemas on June 30, 2023. As such, any LEGO Indiana Jones set announcements should hopefully be made before then.
