It’s a good year for LEGO Star Wars prequel droid figures
It turns out that 2024 is a good year for LEGO Star Wars prequel droid figures after all, fitting for the 25th anniversary of the theme.
Just as the Super Battle Droid figure returned with an upgrade earlier in 2024 in 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack, the Droideka is now confirmed to be back after a decade-long absence in full-sized sets.
75381 Droideka not only offers a larger recreation of the iconic prequel trilogy droid, but the display plaque holds a minifigure-sized ball droid too, offering one for the first time since 2015’s 75092 Naboo Starfighter.
Considering that 2024 is the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars, it’s a good time to bring back these recognisable droid figures in LEGO Star Wars sets but the Droideka was only rumoured to return previously. Now we know for certain that it’s back from May 1, 2024, courtesy of an Australian Certified LEGO Store
The design of the new Droideka figure features a homage perfect for the 25th anniversary too. While the LEGO levers have been frequently used for the droid’s LEGO figures, the first iteration of it in 2002 featured the same piece. This may not be an intentional reference given that the element has been used similarly twice, but it works in the LEGO Group’s favour for the anniversary.
75381 Droideka launches on May 1 alongside another newly revealed LEGO Star Wars set and you can pick up the new Super Battle Droid in 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack now.

- LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
