Sold-out LEGO Harry Potter 40598 Gringotts Vault is already fetching all the Galleons

The headline LEGO Harry Potter Back to Hogwarts gift-with-purchase 40598 Gringotts Vault has sold out online in the UK and Europe – and is already fetching huge sums on the aftermarket.

Originally available from September 1 with LEGO Harry Potter purchases above £115 / €130, the expansion set to 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition was due to run through September 13. Instead, it sold out in the UK and Europe within three days of launch. Collectors swift enough to snap it up are now cashing in on eBay, where 40598 Gringotts Vault is selling for as much as £89.95 (with its companion GWP 30651 Quidditch Practice).

Other copies have sold for more reasonable prices – between the £40 to £60 mark – but plenty have climbed as high as £70. Over on BrickLink, you can snag the set from European sellers starting at around £32 (plus delivery), but there are none available from UK sellers at the time of writing. In UK-centric Facebook groups, you can expect to pay roughly £40 for both of the Back to Hogwarts gifts-with-purchase from private sellers.

If you’re on the other side of the pond, 40598 Gringotts Vault is still available with Harry Potter purchases above $130 at LEGO.com – but now is the time to get your order in. There’s no telling when it might sell out in the US, and when it does you can bet that aftermarket prices there will jump up too. The 212-piece set acts as a standalone money box, but is designed first and foremost to hook to 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition.

That means it will likely always feel a necessary add-on to anyone buying that bigger Wizarding World set, whether now or months or years down the road. Couple that increased demand (compared to standalone gifts-with-purchase) with extremely short supply, and you’ve got a recipe for a set that’s likely only going to keep rising in price, requiring ever more Galleons to acquire on the aftermarket.

76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition is available to everyone now, and still qualifies for 30651 Quidditch Practice in the UK and Europe, and both that polybag and 40598 Gringotts Vault in the US, until September 13 (or while stocks last).
