LEGO 43222 Disney Castle rumoured to include multiple princes and princesses
The rumoured LEGO 43222 Disney Castle – which is sounding more and more like a successor to 71040 The Disney Castle – is now said to include a ‘variety of princes and princesses’.
2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the House of Mouse, and the LEGO Group is seemingly pulling out all the stops to celebrate. 40622 Disney 100th Celebration, 43212 Disney Celebration Train and 43217 ‘Up’ House are already on shelves, with 71038 Disney 100 Collectible Minifigures due to follow in May. Those are apparently all just a precursor, however, to a giant new Disney castle.
Initial word on 43222 Disney Castle surfaced last month, and Instagram user 1414falconfan has now corroborated those reports (via reddit user FluffySky6). The set is still said to retail for $399.99 and include a whopping 4,837 pieces, making it far bigger and more expensive than 2016’s 71040 The Disney Castle, which finally retired from production in 2022.
It’s now also said to include a ‘variety of princes and princesses’, pointing to an extensive minifigure line-up full of possibilities. While any Disney castle might have been expected to come with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as standard, focusing instead on iconic Disney princes and princesses opens the door to a much more varied cast of characters.
To throw a few names in the ring: Prince Charming, Eric, Beast, Aladdin, Ariel, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Belle, Merida, Cinderella and plenty more could all show up in 43222 Disney Castle, many of whom are yet to receive an official LEGO minifigure. It feels increasingly likely that 71038 Disney 100 will in many ways act as a complement to this set (if it exists as rumoured).
You’ll be able to get your hands on those Collectible Minifigures from May, while 43222 Disney Castle is rumoured to be launching in July. For now, don’t put too much stock in its existence – at least until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
