— Where to buy LEGO DREAMZzz 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car

LEGO DREAMZzz 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car will retail for £8.99 / $9.99 / €9.99 from January 1, 2024 via LEGO.com and from LEGO Stores, as well as some third-party retailers.

— LEGO DREAMZzz 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car build —

Despite being the smallest build in the LEGO DREAMZzz 2024 wave, 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car doesn’t skimp on detail. The tangy green of Z-Blob ties the whole set together nicely, from the goo that holds the vehicle together to the ammo in Mateo’s stud-shooting gun. Despite largely being plain white and black otherwise, the use of stickers on the bonnet and wings means the set doesn’t look boring from any angle.

Turn the wheels down and add some propellers and you’ve got yourself a flying vehicle that easily sits in the palm of your hand. Turn them to the sides and there’s a dune buggy-style vehicle that’s ready to take on any terrain. Either way, both builds are compact enough to work perfectly as playsets for builders of all ages, no matter how small their hands are.

It’s also relatively easy to switch between the two vehicles, which you may want to do for easier storage or display. The only downside of the flying version of 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car is that it doesn’t sit easily on its base, with it not being flat or braced with wheels. That might mean you want to revert it back to its road version whenever it’s not actively flying, to avoid it tipping on to one side.

— LEGO DREAMZzz 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car minifigures —

Mateo’s minifigure is a repeat from his earlier appearances, complete with a splash of goopy green in his hair to match his ride and pal Z-Blob. He comes complete with an interactive gun that shoots studs, once again lending 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car perfectly to play.

To add some drama to the build, you also get a tiny Grimspawn to battle. Despite being small, even this tiny side-build includes enough detail in its small size, with bright pink petals on the side to act as fins.

— LEGO DREAMZzz 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car price —

It’s hard to pick at the price of any set that’s less than £10 but 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car really packs a lot into its tiny size and price. Even the tiny Grimspawn is impressively detailed and the main build includes decorations on every element – even if that’s achieved through stickers. If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful playset, look no further than 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car.

71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car pros and cons —

All in all, 71471 Mateo’s Off-Road Car is a great little playset that doesn’t skimp on detail and colour just because it’s compact. It would be easy to do a straightforward car or plane but the side wings, stickered details, and green ‘goo’ connectors take it to an impressive level without breaking the bank.
