LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower – everything we know so far

One of the last major releases rumoured for 2023 is the mighty LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower. From the price tag to the minifigures, here’s a reminder of everything we know about it so far…

While 2024 news is currently taking up headlines, it’s worth remembering that there are still just under five months of 2023 left (phew: we’re not getting any younger here). And the final quarter of the year is typically home to the biggest LEGO releases in the annual calendar, including in recent years 10294 Titanic, 75313 AT-AT and 76210 Hulkbuster.

It sounds like the same will be true for 2023, as the second-most expensive LEGO Marvel set to date is apparently on the cards for later this year, delivering what’s sounding more and more like the ultimate rendition of a heavily-requested set. Here’s everything the rumour mill has told us about 76269 Avengers Tower so far.

LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower build

76166 Avengers Tower Battle was the last LEGO Avengers Tower.

Details on 76269 Avengers Tower’s build are few and far between at this point, but it’s not as if this is some mystery location from an upcoming movie: we all know what the Avengers Tower looks like, and we’ve even seen it built as a LEGO set twice before, in 2015’s 76038 Attack on Avengers Tower and 2020’s 76166 Avengers Tower Battle. Expect a much taller set with many more windows…

One thing brick_clicker has reported so far is that the set will be – as presumed – compatible with both 76178 Daily Bugle and 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum (and, by extension, other LEGO modular buildings). That’s good news for anyone hoping to slide 76269 Avengers Tower straight into their wider LEGO city layout.

LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower minifigures

The first Avengers Tower pulled directly from Age of Ultron.

76178 Daily Bugle went ham on minifigures, while 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum was a little more conservative. 76269 Avengers Tower sounds like it’s going to come in closer to the Spidey-themed skyscraper, as brick_clicker claims the 2023 set will include ‘at least’ 22 minifigures, all derived from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and mostly focusing on Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The line-up’s new and exclusive minifigures are said to include two Iron Man suits, Hawkeye, Falcon, Wasp, Ultron, Vision and Helen Cho, along with an Ant-Man microfigure and a bigfig Hulk. The rest of the character count will then seemingly be rounded out by re-used minifigures of Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, War Machine, Nick Fury, Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, Wong, Scarlet Witch and four Chitauri.

LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower piece count

While the LEGO Group looks to be shifting its strategy slightly in 2024 – targeting smaller and cheaper 18+ sets – the designers behind 76269 Avengers Tower seemingly didn’t get the memo. The LEGO Marvel set will apparently include a titanic 5,261 pieces, which would make it the theme’s biggest set of all time. Previous play-scale versions of this building have topped out at just 685 pieces with 2020’s 76166 Avengers Tower Battle.

LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower price

Blueprint of 2019’s 40334 Avengers Tower promo.

Brace yourself: all those pieces and minifigures obviously won’t come cheap, and 76269 Avengers Tower is subsequently said to cost an eye-watering $524.99 in the US. That’s only $25 cheaper than last year’s 76210 Hulkbuster, albeit for many more bricks and characters in the box. Either way, you’re going to need deep pockets to pick this up day one.

LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower release date

76166 Avengers Tower Battle launched in 2020.

If the budget allows and you’re itching to get your hands on 76269 Avengers Tower, the good news is that you don’t have too much longer to wait. The mighty Marvel model is said to be launching on November 24, presumably to coincide with the Black Friday weekend – as per 75313 AT-AT, 10307 Eiffel Tower and so on in previous years.

Remember that all the details in this round-up are only rumoured at this stage, so take them with a grain of salt until the LEGO Group confirms otherwise.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
