LEGO Angry Birds returning in 2027 could make a lot of sense
With The Angry Birds Movie 3 confirmed to arrive on big screens in 2027, should the LEGO Group revisit a previous theme from yesteryear?
Paramount Pictures has announced that The Angry Birds Movie 3 is now officially in production and due to launch worldwide on January 29, 2027. The previous two animated films in the series grossed a combined half-billion dollars at the global box office, making the return of the feathery characters almost inevitable at some point.
That could also bode well for a short-lived LEGO theme from the past potentially making a reappearance in 2027 too, although bear with us as we wildly speculate. LEGO The Angry Birds Movie launched in 2016 and ran for roughly a year, with a total of six sets arriving during that period.

Models included moulded figures of the first film’s animal cast, such as Red, Chuck, Stella, Matilda, Bomb and Mighty Eagle, alongside various pesky piggies and a selection of brick-built vehicles and locations. Of those, 75826 King Pig’s Castle was the largest, with a total of 859 pieces and five figures, plus break-apart action features.
Although only sticking around for roughly 12 months, the LEGO The Angry Birds Movie theme did ultimately prove to be something of a precursor to other video game-inspired movie sets such as recent LEGO A Minecraft Movie models.

At this stage there are no indications from the LEGO Group that revisting The Angry Birds Movie in some shape or form is on the cards at all. The fact that no LEGO The Angry Birds Movie sets were released to support the first movie sequel might also suggest that the theme may not have performed as well as expected, although that’s just speculation on our part.
However, it’s worth noting that moulds for the LEGO The Angry Birds Movie theme’s figures would most likely still exist, although some additional printing might be required to reflect any updated character’s appearance. If the company does return to the well and offer up new sets based on the upcoming movie, then the LEGO Group wouldn’t exactly have to start from scratch with the project.
The LEGO Group has been on something of a roll of late when it comes to snapping up numerous major licensed properties, so don’t be surprised if the LEGO The Angry Birds Movie theme does indeed make a surprise return at some point in 2027 to accompany the third animated feathery film.
