Rumoured LEGO Batman: The Animated Series set has a solid foundation
The rumoured LEGO Batman: The Animated Series Batmobile is off to a good start since this wouldn’t be the series’ first LEGO depiction.
A recent list of rumoured LEGO Batman sets includes 76274 Batman: The Animated Series Batmobile, offering the first physical LEGO representation of the series. It already has a solid foundation though as this wouldn’t be the LEGO Group’s only encounter with Batman: The Animated series.
The set is rumoured to feature Batman, Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze and their minifigures should be easy to adapt thanks in no small part to a LEGO DC game.
LEGO DC Super-Villains featured a Batman: The Animated Series DLC complete with minifigures of Batman and Harley Quinn. Those designs could be borrowed for a physical LEGO set and would not require any new pieces.
Mr. Freeze’s appearance with the domed helmet may be more difficult, though The LEGO Batman Movie happens to have the perfect solution. The retired 70901 Mr. Freeze Ice Attack debuted a new piece that allowed for a transparent domed piece to be attached while incorporating a pair of exaggerated shoulder pads. It would be ideal for the first minifigure of the villain based on the animated series.
The minifigures could be covered by official designs and elements, but the model in the rumoured 76274 Batman: The Animated Series Batmobile may require more attention.
The series’ Batmobile has a unique design of which only 2012’s 30161 Batmobile polybag comes close, though it’s arguably too small to borrow any major elements of the design. Thankfully, some custom creations could inspire the LEGO superhero design team, should the rumours be true, including a mockup set by fourstud on Instagram.
Take all rumours with appropriate caution until more is officially confirmed to avoid any potential disappointment. For now, there’s precedent for LEGO Batman: The Animated series that can be utilised and the online community could be one step ahead of the LEGO Group and the reported build.
