LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight release date and playable villains confirmed

TT Games has revealed the release date for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and confirmed that two villains will be playable in the Deluxe Edition of the game.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight debuts on May 29, 2026, or three days earlier (May 26) if you pre-order the Deluxe Edition, on PS5, Xbox Series S/X and PC. Warner Bros. Games confirmed the release date at The Game Awards, where a new trailer and details of both the standard and deluxe versions of the game were also revealed. You can check out the new trailer (which shows off a few more villains) below.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game doesn’t have a finalised release date yet – it’s still just ‘2026’ – suggesting it’s going to come a little later down the line than on other platforms. Pre-orders across PS5, Xbox Series S/X and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) are live now. Here’s what to expect from each edition of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight…

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Standard Edition

  • More than 20 vehicles
  • More than 250 Batcave props and trophies
  • Pre-order bonus: The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Deluxe Edition

LEGO BATMAN LEGACY OF THE DARK KNIGHT DELUXE EDITION CONTENTS 1200x675

  • Legacy Collection (available at launch)
    • Arkham Trilogy Pack, Batman Beyond Pack and Party Music Pack, each containing seven new suits (one per playable character), one new Batmobile and five Batcave props
  • Mayhem Collection (available September 2026)
    • Mayhem Mode and story mission featuring The Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters, Sinister Pack with seven new suits, one new Batmobile and five Batcave props
  • Pre-order bonus: 72-hour early access to the game from May 26
  • Price: £79.99 / $89.99

In a departure from previous LEGO Batman games, Legacy of the Dark Knight includes only seven playable characters – Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Catwoman, Jim Gordon and Talia al Ghul – but the Mayhem Collection will at least give players the chance to control Harley and the Joker. They’ll each have their own abilities, gadgets and takedowns.

There’s no word yet on whether the content in the Deluxe Edition will be available to purchase separately, but it’s hard to imagine WB Games walling it all off forever. Everyone can still access the launch-day bonus Golden Age Batsuit by signing up for a Warner Bros. Games account (you’ll automatically gain access if you already have an account).

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
