LEGO Black Friday preview event recap – new sets, giveaway and more

Didn’t catch it live? Here’s a full recap of everything in the LEGO Black Friday preview event – from the reveal of a unique model to a one-of-a-kind LEGO giveaway.

The LEGO Group’s Black Friday celebrations are officially underway, kick-started by a livestream at LEGO.com that unveiled the first of the company’s plans for the biggest shopping event of the year. The hour-long stream saw LEGO designers Jordan Scott and Fenella Charity take a deep dive into a wide range of current products, as well as this year’s headline Black Friday release – but that wasn’t all.

If you missed the livestream (and given it took place at 11.30pm UK time, you would have had to have stayed up pretty late to catch it on this side of the pond), here’s a full recap of everything that went down.

A LEGO product tour

The majority of the stream involved Jordan and Fenella taking a tour of currently-available LEGO sets, from the Winter Village Collection and Modular Buildings Collection to 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser, 21342 The Insect Collection and 41757 Botanical Garden. It was a whistle-stop journey around each of these sets, all geared around pointing viewers in the direction of LEGO.com to make a purchase. They gave a few fun insights into each of the sets along the way, but there was nothing especially ground-breaking.

A new addition to the LEGO modular street

While showing off 10326 Natural History Museum, 10312 Jazz Club and 10297 Boutique Hotel, the stream’s host and LEGO designer Fenella introduced us to a brand new addition to the LEGO modular street. This tiny kiosk isn’t available to buy, but the LEGO Group has published a parts list and instructions, so you can recreate it for yourself at home. There are three different options – a wig stand, bone stand or frog stand – but you can always get creative and repurpose it for whatever you like.

An Avengers Tower designer Q&A

The star of the show was 76269 Avengers Tower, this year’s flagship LEGO Black Friday release. The soaring superhero set is the biggest LEGO Marvel model of all time, and was conceived by the designers of previous Marvel modular buildings, 76178 Daily Bugle and 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum (Mark Stafford and Justin Ramsden respectively). Both of those talented teammates participated in a pre-recorded Q&A for the Black Friday preview event, and they make for a great double act. (Watch their responses to ‘what’s your favourite LEGO set?’ in particular.)

A tour of 76269 Avengers Tower – and its GWP

Back in the LEGO House, Jordan and Fenella gave a live tour of 76269 Avengers Tower, pointing out plenty of the details and Easter eggs you’ll find inside and out. They didn’t give everything away – there need to be some surprises for builders come Black Friday – but it’s as close a look at the new set as you’ll find until reviews go live. The duo also showed off 5008076 LEGO Marvel Taxi gift-with-purchase that will be free exclusively with 76269 Avengers Tower from November 24 to 27, or while stocks last.

A unique giveaway

The stream finished up with the reveal of a unique sweepstakes in the Insiders Rewards Centre. Fans in the US and Canada (excluding Quebec) can enter now to win a copy of 76269 Avengers Tower signed by designers Mark Stafford, Justin Ramsden and Mark Tranter. The one-of-a-kind box features their signatures and other doodles. The winner will be contacted on November 29.

And that was a wrap – for now at least. More LEGO Black Friday 2023 promos will surely be unveiled the closer we get to the big day, but for now we know at least that 76269 Avengers Tower and its accompanying 5008076 LEGO Marvel Taxi GWP will be available from November 24.
